December 2020 has come, and 5G-MOBIX looks back at 12 months of innovation, progress and overcome obstacles. Despite the adversities brought by COVID-19, the project managed to continue to innovate online and share its findings with a series of webinars presenting its cross-border trial locations, amongst others, and to give insights into 5G through its members with the launch of the 5G Talks interview series, which this year featured WINGS, FORD OTOSAN, DEKRA and INTRASOFT. A variety of virtual demonstrations was prepared early in December and presented and reviewed by the European Commission, such as the Remote Driving demo performed live by KPN. The remaining demos will definitely be something to look forward to seeing on the 5G-MOBIX website in 2021, as soon as they will be available.

A White Paper for a white Christmas: another 5G-MOBIX 2020 achievement was the publishing of the ICT-18 projects white paper, where 5G-MOBIX, 5GCroCo and 5G-CARMEN jointly presented their preliminary results and identified the main concerns and challenges arising from deploying advanced CCAM use cases at regional borders.

Last but not least, an important milestone achieved was the set of four reports released by the “Deployment Enablers” activity, led by project member INTRASOFT. These reports focus on recommendations to overcome cooperation, business, technical and regulatory barriers to 5G deployment.

So what will 2021 bring? The 5G world will definitely continue to benefit from 5G-MOBIX as a knowledge hub for 5G, thanks to the project’s video, presentations and webinars section updated with the latest 5G content. Most importantly, 5G stakeholders will be able to enjoy 5G-MOBIX’ demonstrations at either the project’s trial sites or at events, such as the EUCNC in Porto and the ITS World Congress in Hamburg.
